"This one was weird. I had this "Compaq" card in a Pesario Desktop with the MPX EN5038B tag on the chip. The Win2000 driver would not install. But when I basically forced Windows 2000 to install this 2000 driver as an Acction card in the Hardware wizard. It then showed up as two cards. An Acction card and an SMZ EZ 10/100 card. The Acction card didn't work but the SMZ card

"NIC was parted out from a Compaq Presario into a homebrew P4 running Win98SE. The installation is not intuitive for newcomers (there's no setup.exe), but if you've ever installed a PNP device and drivers before, you should be OK. "I have netcard Accton EN1207D (labeled as Compaq) with Mpx En5038b chip onboard.But really that was RTL8129 chip (VEN_10EC&DEV_8129) so this driver dosn't wark at all."

"One catch, otherwise worked great - followed instructions in Readme.txt to boot to DOS, install from there - didn't work. Install attempt by guiding windows to the files - worked great!

Thanks! (PS - mine is one of the ones labelled Compaq 10/100 WOL...)"

"I accept that I may be a bit harsh here. Tried it on a Network card (an old one from my spare parts bin) and just couldn't get it to work. At all, at all.

The card had and MPX EN5038B chip. There is no idication that it came from a Compaq system, so that might be the difference.

Decided it was easier to dig out another old card and try that.
