"It was a struggle to get this driver loaded. Afterwards I found a website "BJC Angel" which makes the BJC 5100 work on Windows XP like a charm.

So , first install driver , then install BJC Angel."

"so much for Canon service. I suggest that when you are ready for a printer replcaement you give them a miss. That is the only way that they will take notice."

"C5000 I've tried just about everything and still can't get the driver to work. Anybody with a C5000 that does get it to work, plz post steps. All I've been able to get is a error box telling me that xp can't communicate with the printer."

"It really works. My only trouble is that XP keeps saying it found new hardware and is installing software for it. Also, I can't get it to print in B&W when printing 11X17 reports. It's a waste of ink, but at least it works."

"Yes, this driver works for XP, thanks Matt. Just use the Add Printer dialog and it should work. I had tried other win2k drivers for BJC5000 but they failed to install correctly, reporting print spooler problems."

"I had difficulty downloading the file and finding it, like some others had mentioned. Once downloaded, I found installation extremely diffiuclt, and have not been successful to date."

"Not sure I understand what you mean Christopher. In my case I ran the self extracting executable and it extracted into the windows\temp directory. I then did a printer addition using oem.inf as the install file when requested by windows. If this does not work for you please post again. Regards, Jeff"

"I also found this driver to work, although I had to install it with the printer disconnected and then reconnect the printer. I have however also the problem of the preferences not able to be changed so any further advice on this would be welcome eg when the preferences are changed is this stored in a file somewhere. "Windows XP Pro. Used the instructions that came with the driver pack. Everything ran smoothly. However, noticed that eventhough the printer worked fine when ever I booted XP found the new hardware and wanted to install it. I entered Device Manager and found a question mark on the printer. "I would also suggest saving this file under a name that you will easily recognize, I just installed it on my friends computer, but being unfamiliar with xp I had a hard time finding it cause xp seems to put things where it thinks they should go....so you may have to do a file search for the name of your file. "Seems to work fine, many thanks to the creator of it because i was soooo getting frustrated when xp wouldnt let me install it. All you have to do is install it like any other printer, but before you extract it get properties of the package and change compatibility mode to windows 2000."

"It works butit was work to get installed. You have to do it manuelly. After you download the driver, you install the printer manuelly. When XP opens a window for the location of the driver, open the location where the driver is and the inf file will be selected. After you click OK, the file will load. Pretty straight forward after that. Hope that helps"

"The expanded download appears to be same as the Canon W2K driver, and the result is the same It prints in standard color mode, but the preferences cannot be changed. This is important, since most printing should be done in black only draft until color is really needed. What did you mean by ".... select the program under a W2K configuration in the software directory"?"
