"Tried to resuscitate the embedded opti sound device on a '95 vintage Gateway but nothing I tried worked. Concluded the device was dead & installed a peripheral sound card. This is the real Opti driver so it should work."

""I dont think you can make an old Sound Card with a Crystal chip CS4331-KL for Windows 3.1, 3.11, 3.51, Workgroup and Windows 95 work on Windows 2000? Its hard to get it to work on Windows 95, it want have a "Mic" for Chat rooms, only in the Voice Command, and Recording! RK..."
