Additional Notes

****THIS IS THE CORRECTED VERSION OF A CDROM ARCHIVE I HAVE OF THESE FILES. I UPLOADED AN EARLIER VERSION AT ANOTHER LINK, THINKING IT WAS THE UPDATED VERSION AS I WAS TOO LAZY TO PULL OUT THE DISK AND WENT TO IBM FTP SITE INSTEAD (ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/ps1aptiva/update_files/bios/), WHICH ACTUALLY HAD THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE BIOS, NOT THE UPDATED ONE. THIS IS THE FEBRUARY 1999 UPDATE. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION****

This flash BIOS update is for use on miscellaneous IBM 2134, 2159 and 2176 Aptiva systems. It installs BIOS level BSTxx4I (BSTUS4I on US systems) on Aptivas with the A-2 motherboard and the ATI 3D Rage graphics chipset and level BFLxx4N (BFLUS4N on US systems) on Aptivas with the A-1 motherboard and the SiS graphics chipset.

How to Update 2159 and 2176 Device Drivers

Step 1 - Download Your Driver

To get the 2159 and 2176 driver, click the green download button above. After you complete your download, move on to Step 2.

If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter IBM 2159 and 2176 into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

Tech Tip: If you are having trouble deciding which is the right driver, try the IBM Driver Update Utility. It is a software utility which automatically finds and downloads the right driver.

To find the newest driver, you may need to visit the IBM website. Most major device manufacturers update their drivers regularly.

Step 2 - Install Your Driver

After you get your new driver, you need to put it on your computer. On Windows, there's a tool called Device Manager that helps with this. It shows you all the parts of your computer and the drivers they use. To finish setting up the new driver, you'll probably need to turn your computer off and on again.

Tech Tip: Driver downloads and updates come in a variety of file formats with different file extensions. For example, you may have downloaded an EXE, INF, ZIP, or SYS file. Each file type has a slighty different installation procedure to follow.

For more help, visit our Driver Support Page for step-by-step videos on how to install drivers for every file type.
