"I tried a dozen drivers before I could find this and it put my modem in working order in a few minutes. It worked for a Presario 4550 with a modem with the 1641 chip and Windows 98SE

"Took a chance that the Lucent drivers might work on a Compaq desktop system. No go at all. The system noted that this driver set is for the HP computer version only. However. It may be ok on a newer Compaq, one built after HP bought Compaq."
