"Worked on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (No Service Packs)

Device was a 3Com 3C509B-TPO ISA Card in PnP Mode

If device manager asks for elnk3.sys, rename ELNK3ND4.SY_ to ELNK3.SYS (just remove the 'ND4' from the name) and the device will load."

"Very good indeed.

If youi have the ISA 3Com Nic 3C509b, first install 3com drives then this "adition" in drivers folder for proper HW identification in Win-XP"

"Configured a 3C509B-TPO in XP with the legacy mode option, at first it showed error code 34, but then manually configured IRQ 10 and IO interval 0200-020F, after a system reset, all went smooth."

"after a long search, this finally worked for my 3Com 3C509B Etherlink III NIC. It needs another file "elnk3.sys" to install. Got this from drivers folder in windows 2000."

"I was stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to get a Windows 2003 server up and on the network with a 3COM 3C509B NIC. It was not until I got to your website and found the posting from Oscar Salcedom that I found what I was looking for. I downloaded both files and they worked tremendously! Thanks."

"Used this with a 1995 era Combo card.

must select Legacy Mode then change the I/O to an unused resource,

same with IRQ. I had luck with IRQ 07 on two machines."

"This driver works perfect! I was astounded that Windows XP doesn't support the 3Com EtherLink III ISA (3C509/3C509b) in Legacy mode. You have to run the Hardware Wizard and pick the card from a list. Unzip the driver file to a folder that you create, and update the driver after the Hardware Wizard is done. Good Luck!"
