"there is something not right about this one

i found 1 just like it from this site driver guide

and everthing worked great.keep looking the name is

cdd4801/81 its the same but there are about 2000+

downloads listed as downloaded.its far beter than this 1"

"Flash is fine, but not the latest for some Philips writer

==> Maybe better use v3.7.0.0 (Philips_CDRW.zip)

Anyway, for CDD4801 you can use this flash here - both they contents the latest v2,5!"

"I had a philips model no. CDD4801/72 cd/rw. I had searched the net for a way to update the firmware. My burner was getting page fault errors at the close of the burn. This was the only program that would work on my drive. I down loaded and tried them all!"

"The best thing to do with this drive (or ANY Philips hardware):

1. Hit with very large hammer 3 times.

2. Take small pieces and throw them in different directions.

3. Take large pieces and attach note: "Do not touch under any circumstances." This is to protect others from harm.

4. Tie larger pieces to very large rocks.

"It does work!!! My CD-Writer has a big Label with Number E118405 and a little Label which states that it is from IONICS and is a CDD4801. The ID-String is "IDE-CD R/RW 8x4x32". First I tried with the "Firmware FlashTool (3.7.2.1)" from Philips (downloaded for the RWDV3210, but in the ReadMe is stated, that this Tool should also update many other Recorders including the "I

"Couldn't get it to work. The "Next" button is greyed out after it asks for the directory containing the files. I got to this page by following a like for a driver, not a flashtool. Don't buy Philips products"

"It worked for me! My Phillips CDD4801 would only read, not write, after downloading some "critical" Microsoft updates. I applied the firmware update and am back in business. Thanks!!!"
