The following describe the events that have probably occurred over time before the occurrence of this error.
The primary user on a Windows XP PC installed an HP device (camera, scanner, all-in-one, etc.).
A second user has been added to the Windows XP PC.
The second user is attempting to install another HP device. During installation, the user receives the message, "Fatal error during installation. Error 1714."
The utility on this page resolves this error so the second device can be installed.
