"Maybe there's a problem with my system (unknown RC of XP SP3) or with the modem itself. The modem either didn't react (change from an "Other Device") or just didn't show up in Device Manager (failed to detect, period)."

"This is the one to use - it contains the all important setup.exe which a lot of the others don't seem. It also has the files for each of the different operating systems in their own folder. Good stuff."
