"at the installation the system said that it hasn't pass the compatibility proof with xp, and that it can damage the system. I've installed it and it works correctly, but in some cases it does not recognize the hardware. Whenever it passes, i only need to re-insert the hardware in the pcior usb slot."

"It is not a driver issue, Try installing a USB 2.0 Mass Storage Driver. I have it working on ...98,2000 and xp. Sorry to here you can figure this out."

"This driver is the same as the one from the manufacturer, ie complete and utter waste of time. Wondered why a kind friend gave me this drive - substitute 'a kind friend' for 'my worst enemy'. Have wasted days and days on this and still get "no supported drive" with win98. At least I'm encouraged to read that I'm not completely dumb - afterall, you guys have also had probs?

"wot a waste of time, lets face it there are no drivers for this to use it with winme! i have XP on one of my computers but theres no way i would connect this crap, i cant now anyway, not since i ripped it open and stamped on it, most satiafaction it ever gave me!! ( not recomended for all computer related problems but it works for this paticular product)"

"Troy, please relax and offer solutions....it is strange that in my desktop PC at work running Win2k, i had no problem with the driver, but on my Dell Laptop also running Win2k, I can't get this thing to load at all!! Does anybody at all have a solution for this? My Desktop is a Dell Optiplex while my laptop is a Dell Lattitude.......suggestions?"

"seems no different to the one available from the manufaturer.Neither one works.I agree with all the negative critisism of archos,they do not even reply to my emails.I have tried 3 different drw units 2 different operating systems and 4 drivers and in 1 year I have managed to record 2 CD'S.I give up what a waste of life and money"

"I have one way to fix this problem, i tryed it and it woek perfectelly, just install WIN XP on your win98 and uninstall it, when you have your PC running under win98 again, just plug your ARCHOS device and the system recognise automatically, I hope that this will help all the Archos device users."

"I bought an Archos CDRW about 5 months ago - it worked for less than 1 month and now Im damned if I can get it to work... Win XP refuses to accept the drivers! I cant get a response to from the Archos technical email address either..."

"Downloaded Drivers in the vain hope they would fix the problems I'm having (as Arhos's site has a bad link!). Still u/s - seems to be impacting on my network card ?!?!?!? I tink this is worth all that I paid for it - it was given away as a freebie when I bought a laptop -now I know why - it's not worth a penny more!"

"Yup, this device is definitely a load crap! We have been searching for a WIN2K driver for ages. The one downloaded from here doesn't appear to exist - the ZIP file is empty when I try to unzip it despite being 1.12MB!"

"Having just purchased the mini/CDRW, from ARCHOS, at a reduced price! I now know why it was reduced? Yes, the driver does not work!! I wish I had seen this page before I bought. I am currently communicating with ARCHOS."

"guys, i did a big mistake buying this worthless min CDRW from Archos for $300. They supplied driver didn't work in WInME, and I have downloaded many drivers from their site and still the OS doesn't recognize the drive at all. In short DONT EVER BUY THIS PRODUCT."

"This driver is supplied with the CDRW. Using it with win98SE is very problematic. I have tried both the PCMCIA card and the USB cable, and neither works reliably. I'm not certain that the problem isn't the drive itself though."
