"10-18-03 tried it on Win2000 pro with my venerable "old" Monster MX400. Sorry to say it didn`t work. Setting up a new system, wanted to add this audio card. I didn`t realize until I got into it that Diamond>>Sonic Blue had died. Sucs to be me. I have 6 of these cards, lol. Anyhow my new system has an onboard audio chip that I couldn`t get to work. "I thought this would be the driver I needed, but upon initial install, it asked for me to load the Diamond Multimedia diskette in order to intall/activate the driver. I don't have the diskette, that is why I was needing the driver!! It severd no purpose at all to download this, because it wasn't the driver!"

"Driver failed to install on XP - XP refused to install device driver! Tried via hardware install, update driver via properties and even right click "install" on the *.inf file but XP just didn't want to proceed. I'm now downloading the older 98>2000 Driver to see if it will work."

"When I start my PC XP installs some default drivers for this card , and as the result card doesnt work completely (It actually said no audio devices installed) if I try to upgrade drivers to the version provided here, It installes ok , but still no audio. "I just installed Windows XP SP2 from Windows ME. With Me, I had no soundcard problems. Then with XP, I had no sound. Tried to contact Diamond website, to find out they no longer support my MX400 (ESS Canyon 3D) soundcard. Like Yevgen, I was about to toss my soundcard. But it was Dean Boyer to the rescue. Thanks Dean Boyer."

I have the Monster MX400 soundcard installed but only front channel works(shows up as an ESS Canyon 3D soundcard in the system properties) Would like to hear both channels. Some suggestions please? "I read some of the comments, figured I'd try it in Win 2000 Pro (no service packs, clean install on IBM 20Gig, MSI board, AMD 1Gig, 512M PC2700, Leadtek MX200 32Meg, Ambient HaM Data Fax modem). So I downloaded the drivers & installed. Works beautifully. Rear channel now works! My sincerest thanks to you all & especially Dean for posting it."

"You guys are speaking like XP came up with the card working in stereo. Wish I was that lucky. XP on a Deskpro 4000 - no audio at all. I can't upgrade a driver that doesn't exist. Tried to install audio or MM driver and XP didn't like any of the files that came with this download. What to do????"

"Update for these drivers.....M$ has made new drivers and if you install SP1 It will update the drivers to there new one's. They work for me just fine,but you can always go back to the old ones if they don't Dean"

"I downloaded this driver and tried to update the driver. Went through it's routine and said it already had the best driver. I haven't really messed with it yet. Any hints on how to make it install. XP took some other driver and it works ok but I'm sure I'm not getting all the use out of my sound card. The microphone doesn't work. ANy suggestions would be helpful."

"Yes...this driver does work with Win2000! Unzip the file to a directory, i.e. C \Monster and use the update driver feature. Instead of letting Windows search for a "suitable driver," select "display a list of known drivers...", "Have disk," and then "Browse," to where you unzipped the driver file. Thanks Dean!"

"This Driver worked perfectly, all you have to do is go to the device's properties under the device manager and under the driver tab select update driver. Select the advanced option, then choose the driver to install and select the folder where you decompressed the driver, and select the proper one, that's all! Thank A Million!"
