"I tried this and booted to the floppy as directed and I got a flash data error. It seems to have found the D drive in dos but could not find the drive in windows."

"I want to thank punisher for posting his solution to my problem. It definatley relates!!! I have an LTN 486 CDROM and mine also just simply disappeared. The bios recognized it, but windows would not. I tried his solution by going into the registry and deleting the two items he recommended and it worked! "According to Dell Download the file to your hard drive. Double click LO483SFW.EXE to create a bootable floppy disk. To perform the firmaware upgrade, just place the bootable disk in the system's floppy drive and boot the system from the floppy. After the upgrade is done, please remove the floppy from the a drive and reboot the system."

"I don't know if this relates to anyone, but I have this LTN483s cd rom, and somehow it just stopped working. windows didn't show the drive letter, and I couldn't find the driver, so i tried this and the cd rom started working. if this is your problem try it, Since I couldn't find the driver. Navigate in the registry to HKLM / SYSTEM / currentcontrolset / control / class /
