"This driver is stable and works well. It was needed in Win98, but interestingly it was also required to get the Acer CD/RW working under WinXP. Works well on both systems. Another device up and running, and not taking up any space in the land fill! heh heh"

"This transfer took some time; first attempt didn't transfer correctly, second try was to copy zipped file, this worked on the second try. Bottom line; if it doesn't work the first time, keep trying until you exhaust all possible alternatives."

"I am trying to install this on my Dell Latitude Laptop. The files are unzipped and placed in a folder but I have been unsuccessful in getting the OS to install this driver. I shows that I have a new USB device but it says when I point it to this folder that it does not contain information on this device. Can someone help me."

And have managed to provide the above link. According to them, what has happened is that this CDRW is an OEM product made by AcerCM which has since changed its name to BenQ. Of course Acer expects

"Well, I am going to try this driver, I have a Acer 4406eu that is no longer a external usb but now an internal, I have not been able to get any help from acer, I am running win2000 and my system recently crashed and I had to reload win2000 the drive worked just fine before it crashed but now windows just keeps seeing the drive as just a cdrom drive. Can Anyone Help?"

"I have used my burner on 2 other computers, however when my daughter bought a computer for college, the driver just refuses to load. She had a later edition of ME. The only way I can find to get into DOS is through the start menu. I'm sure I'm missing something. Any suggestions?"
