"One more thing about getting this thing into your system - the icon for vol control will not be there until one more additional restart as that is the 1st opportunity system bios gets to detect it. Don't freak out and assume incompatability or inferior driver. More proof of exact compatability wil be going to "auto replace driver" (once it's in there) and the wizard should

"Right on Nico! Got it on the 3rd install. Had same problems others noted to begin. XP on newer system must do this to work and ignore no driver reboot etc. (XP only senses it on restart after install) HERE IS THE TRICK! This is version 5.12.1.3034 If your wizard updated auto you got version 5.12.01.3034. De-install it with no restart or better yet install Intel 82801 BA/BA

"Hi there I installed this driver, which in turn uninstalled my sound driver, requested a restart, then tells me that the driver can not be found ....... amazing!!! Then requests hat I reboot to try again, with nil success. So, I am going to download it again and try it one more time."

"I have a Dell Dims 4100 and had Harman/Kardon speakers that worked fine. I was given Boston-Digital BA735's and having trouble getting them to work. "David Keon, thanks for the detailed info... doesn't hel pon my system though trying to run the soundmax ad 1981b on windows 2003 .net server... on a toshiba satellite - .net server is supposed to be 100% compatible with XP drivers, all other devices worked with XP drivers, soundmax just won't... anyone ran into this before? thanks"

"This is what you need to do, open the file and then right click on my computer -> properties -> hardware tab -> device manager then click on the sound card devices and use the driver in the folder C \IBMTOOLS\Drivers\D69Z28US\W2K. That should work as that's what I did. Do not try to install through the setup file."

"hey hey, i did another install of xp off the same disk as the prior. i never had no probs updatin and what not the first time. However, this second time around, i get the driver not found reboot thing. i spent 2 days tryin out all kinds of ideas....ie..chipset, motherboard updates... all to no avail. i can update the ac/97 forcefully to soundmax, but we all know thats not

"Well, the driver kinda worked. I decompressed the EXE with WinZip and then attempted to use the setup program. I got an error "Driver Not Found". Well, I started off with a de-installed SoundMax, I then used the Intel AC'97 driver. Rebooted, and still got a "Driver Not Found" error. Well, I browsed the directory, and found the W2K directory had driver files inside. I manua
