well explained in the internal documentation. However, you are best advised to use the native ALSA implementation that came with your distro. If you are compiling it on your own, you will need the snd_intel_8x0 module.

Please note that I have it installed as my distribution installed it. I have tried the "buggy_semaphore=1" trick, and it still will not work for me; however, the motherboard manufacturer's drivers do not work in Windows either for me, so the hardware and NOT the driver is suspect.

"My computer has an ASUS K8U-X soundcard (motherboard with soundcard onboard). I tried the driver with Freespire 2.0 and it didn't work."
