"My HP Pavilion came with the RTL8139C chip on the mother board and was advertised as Windows XP READY. The Windows Me that came pre-installed had drivers only for the 8139A and HP support claimed they didn't support networking. Putting the NETRTS5.INF and RTL8139.SYS files in the WINME folder from this download on a floppy and clicking on "Update Driver" on Control Panel,
