"Driver installed without a problem and works just fine, however the scanning options are limited compared to the Epson driver in Win 98. I gave the install a bad because the scanner isn't properly ID'd in the registry and the New Hardware Wizzard keeps poping up on boot up. hould have only one Epson 600 scanner in the Device Manager. It means editing the XP registry, so be carefull and follow the article instructions exactly. It's really pretty simple. Have fun"

g for missing .dll files. As the Epson 600 is a rebadged Umax 1200S, the solution is to go the Umax's German site (the US site doesn't have the download and charges for the cd version) and download the free VistaScan 3.55 for Umax Astra 1200S scsi/usb FW>3.1

I downloaded this as a Photoshop plug-in. Simple. Works like a charm. Recognizes the scanner as an Epson 600. No file modifications necessary. The scanner is not recognized in Device Manager but works anyway. Umax doesn't guarantee this to work in WIN XP but it probably will.

"Update to looping/multiple enumeration problem Go to MS Knowledge Base & download article 311907. I tried it & it cures the problem & now only have 1 Epson scanner in device mgr. But, be careful! It means editing the XP registry, so follow the article instructions exactly. Good luck!"

"I tried this on Win XP & got the same looping problem, so I just installed all of them (8). I have 8 Perfection600 scanners listed in Device Manager, but @ least it works with my apps with some reduced functionality. I use an Adaptec 2906 SCSI card which has 8 ports & I suspect it may have something to do with the SCSI card drivers & SCSI port termination. Will pursue this

"I have installed (replaced) this file with no results. Windows XP still won't recognize that the scanner is attached at all. I'm not getting any error message, just no recognition. I have shut down and re-started the computer. Any suggestions?"

"Driver worked on Win 2000 Pro. Had to go this website (found by Rudolph) www.dynamiclink.host.sk/dll-files/library.u/Dll-Files-U.html to get missing dlls. Also I had to load the VistaScan 3.55 app from umax. Here is the address www.iumax.com/driver/v355su.htm. Thanks everyone for info."

"had problems with how to get the file configured.So instead went to this site and d/loaded this,-_www.umax.de/eu/index.htm._this is a umax 12000S and the orginal drivers for this scanner work quite well.feel free to e-mail me for any help you may need."

"Windows XP got into a loop and would not stop loading entries into device manager. I had to turn off the scanner to get it to stop. Did you have the same problem, if so how did you stop it. I am using an Adaptec 2906 scsi card. Thanks Charles Crain"
