I upgraded my HP Pavilion from Windows ME to Windows XP Pro and to my surprise I couldn't record CDs anymore. It took me some time to figure out how to get this firmware update for this piece of junk, since it is no longer supported by Mitsumi or HP. Just unzip the file (self-extracting exe) and run winflash.exe to update the firmware to version 1.8a
