"The install program is the slick NVIDIA one with options to update the SMBus and Storage Drivers as well as the Network ones. I took only the network option.

Rebooted and got a blue screen of info you aren't given time to read AKA screen of death. Tried Safe Mode With Networking and that blew up as well. Safe Mode alone worked so I could disable all the NICs which the

device manager showed as having three entries each; Deterministic Scheduler and QoS Packet Scheduler in addition to the normal network interface one. Even the Cisco VPN had these.

Finally, booting with "Last Best Configuration" got me back to a working state. The DriverGuide Toolkit said the driver had not been installed (at all) which is odd. Cost me time and some aggravation to get back to where I started - dual gigabit NIC that won't work. A trusty old 3COM 905B-TX is my connection to the world."
