If you're Armada 1700 shows no adapter under display properties like mine did, go to system in control panel and double click for properties there and select update driver on second tab, force the driver by selecting from specific location and pick chipsxp.inf and install. Forget the not passed logo and continue anyway with the install.
My unit is a pII 300 mhz..6300/T/5000/D/M/1..Compaq(HPs) site has the 98se driver if you need it. Happy Videoing
