This is the solution. Simply run the driver provided by Sony at www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/pc/pcgr505eceles/softupdates/. You will get lots of error messages like " this driver is not blah blah for your hardware " . The system will reboot and perform a new attempt and fail again. Go to Device Drivers and right click your modem, detected as "Other Devices" and choose Update Driver and point to your windows temp folder. Done !! your modem will install without any error message.
