"I highly recommend this driver for anyone running Windows XP SP2. The install was seamless after Hardware Update wizard browsed to the folder with unzipped files. I used Aida32 to exactly identify the device with a need for a driver."

"It has been stable for a week,after that I got a new hardware-error in

device-control for the soundcard (but it might be something else causing it of course !). For now : it sure was the right driver."

This driver works correctly with windows xp sp2. I tested it in a PIII with this sound card onboard. The motherboard is a PCChips."

"Failed to install due to missing .dll file don't know why this happens either this ASUS A7A266 MB IS VERY picky. Dont try to use a dvd drive to load software use a cdrom, its BIOS will not tollerate anything else !!"

"On the PCChips 874lmrt mobo Aida32 recognized the c-media 8738 as the sound chip onboard.

In Knoppix I get the same PCI detection string and the linux driver for the chip works fine.

Win98SE shows a different picture. The sound did not work at all.

The driver seems to be stable, but that's no use when it doesn't function.

"This driver worked well for me under Windows XP Pro SP2. The sound card I am using is pretty cheap but dowes the job for now, Microphone sound quality is a little basic however!"
