"This flash program wouldn't run on my XP Home PC. After scanning for viruses (didn't find any), I ran it and after choosing the correct DVD drive (GDR8162B), I clicked the "FW Flashup" button and it responded with "This program can't be used for the selected device".

So, anyone know where else one can get an updated firmware driver for this Hitachi

"AS LAWRENCE already stated, this will not flash OEM drives. This will probably only work with LG GDR8162B drives. This will not work with HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8162B drives that come as OEM's such as Dell!"

"The only driver I have for this device is provided by Microsoft dated in 2001. I tried to install this driver and it told me that it would not work for this device. I matched the number exactly and know for a fact this is the driver I need. POS."

"I installed the driver and it would not work with the Invidia Geforce MX4000 video output card. I keep getting error message that it is not compatible.The DVD loads but will not play. ANY SUGGESTIONS???"

"Tried on an HP version of this drive. It wont allow updating firmware. Prbably HP loaded special firmware that doesn't allow this update. Probably ok with standard unit."
