Retrieved from www.agere.com for an HP Pavilion 7960 (US + CAN). Chip says Agere 1648C on it but is a Lucent WinModem. May work on other operating systems besides Windows 98se, that's just what I am on now and able to vouch for.

"Downloaded this driver 1648c-tu5 hoping it will work for XP Pro. havent tried it yet. Hate dial-up just building a machine for someone else. "comp2it" ebay name for great computer deals"

How to Update Lucent WDM Modem Enumerator Device Drivers Quickly & Easily

How to Install a driver from Device Manager

  1. Locate the device and model that is having the issue and double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  2. Select the Driver tab.

  3. Click the Update Driver button and follow the instructions.

In most cases, you will need to reboot your computer in order for the driver update to take effect.
