Purpose of the Software Update

This software update provides various new functionalities as well as enhancements and fixes for a number of issues encountered in Enterprise Network Management 3.0. The update is cumulative and includes fixes and functionalities released in all prior updates to Release 3.0.

Functionalities New To Update 3

Polycom/GMS Launch from NMC

Integrated Management 3.0 introduced support for Polycom VSX Video-Conferencing systems and MGC conferencing bridges. This update enhances this support by providing the ability to launch the Polycom Global Management Syst

em application focused on a given VSX or MGC product by double-clicking on that device?s icon in the Network Management Console.

Use of this new feature requires the installation of GMS Hotfix v7.0.3 atop GMS 7.0.

Functionalities Carried Forward From Update 2

Support for 4601+/4602+ Handsets in PIM

CM3.0 introduced two new IP Phone handset type definitions: 4601+ and 4602+. This update enables PIM to recognize and properly administer the SLS feature on handsets of these types.

Network Management Console

An issue wherein IP Phone user names, as displayed in NMC?s User Connectivity view, were not updated in subsequent discovery cycles, has been repaired. With this fix, changes made to a subscriber?s name in CM as well as in the case where a user logs off an IP Phone and a new subscriber logs into the same handset, will be reflected after the next NMC discovery cycle.

An issue in which Address Manager discovery failed on certain complex mesh topologies has been resolved.

Functionalities Carried Forward From Update 1

Support for New Extreme Gear

Network Management Console and Address Manager will now support the following new Extreme Ethernet switches:

BlackDiamond 8810, 10808

Summit 300-24 PoE, 400-24p, 400-24t, 48si, 48i, 450-24t, 450-24x.

Summit Stacking Configuration (includes homogeneous stacks of either Summit 200-24, 200-48, 300-24, 400-24p, 400-24t, 400-48t).

Network Management Console

The inability to launch telnet, ping, and Web browser on selected elements in the NMC map when running on a Windows Server 2003 client has been resolved.

The inability to launch ASA on remote client (in a browser) has been resolved.

IP Phone user (subscriber) names learned from CM and displayed in NMC?s User Connectivity view, are now displayed properly even when the name contains a comma character.

Provisioning and Installation Manager (PIM)

An issue in PIM 3.0, wherein it is not possible to run a job to configure a gateway device identified in NMC by an IP address other than the PMI (Primary Management Interface), has been resolved.

A problem resulting in incorrectly enabling SNMPv1 and SNMPv3 even for devices where the user has specified in the Device Profile that these should be disabled, has been corrected.

Secure Access Administration

Problems encountered in changing the CLI ?root? user?s password on gateways and switches have been resolved.

Network Configuration Manager

When using a Windows system set to a non-US locale, there had been a problem to specify a periodic backup schedule. This problem has been resolved.

Known Issues in Enterprise Network Management 3.0

The following issues are known to exist in Enterprise Network Management 3.0 and will be addressed in a subsequent software update:

CLAN boards may be discovered with the incorrect subnet mask. This may happen if the CM Server has been discovered, but the IP subnets upon which the CLAN boards reside have not been discovered.

Workaround: add the corresponding subnets and run the IP Discovery on them.

Software Update Procedure

Please read the procedure below before you download the software update.

To install the update:

Download the self-extracting executable file: nmUpdate30_u300.exe

Run the file by double clicking it or right clicking and selecting Open.

Note: If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can run the self-extracting executable file directly from the Web by selecting Run from current location.

Follow the installation instructions on screen to install the update.

Reboot your computer after the installation process completes.
