In addition the WMP11 supports only 802.11b.
I spent boo-ko time researching those crashes on the net; a few people had the same symptom but nobody mentioned this (or any similar) problem and there was no later update to Riptide.
I could only recommend this for a machine on which the WMP11 was satisfactory but your driver got trashed. If setting up a vintage machine, get a better wireless card. The Ralink card is a good bet -- nice controls, functions correctly, and supports all the older OS's."
